WIP Photo is a collaborative project that aims to show the diversity of art coming from emerging and established Filipino photographers based locally and abroad.
The platform started in September 2016 with twenty participants from Dubai and Manila and simultaneous events in both cities.
WIP 2, which was held on December 2016 and curated by noted Filipino photographer and mentor Kat Palasi, featured ten documentary photographers whose works focused on urban life and challenges posed by living in big cities.
The third edition of WIP was held on April 2017 and tackled human rights issues and the WIP 4 exhibit/slideshow in August 2017 explored nude art from ten up and coming fine art photographers with highly-respected photography professor and expert Jay Javier serving as the show’s curator.
WIP is an open-format platform that aims not only to promote the art of photography in the country but also to foster growth and deeper understanding of the art by bridging the gap between the new breed of artists and the veterans in the field. Future WIP activities will involve workshops, portfolio reviews, publications, and other methods all designed to give equal opportunity, and recognize talent and vision.
