Mark Z. Saludes
Mark Z. Saludes is a freelance writer and documentary photographer whose works mainly focus and speak about social issues such as human rights, environmental concerns, social injustices and political-economic inequalities.
He is a member of the National Press Club of the Philippines and the Photojournalists’ Center of the Philippines. Saludes is a founding-member of the Tokwa Collective, a group of freelance content providers in Philippine media.
Saludes’ pilot documentary project “Paracale Gold” under veteran documentary photographer Alex Baluyut’s Masterclass in Documentary Photography class was commissioned by the New York-based Human Rights Watch. The project which was published globally in September 28, 2015 tells stories of Filipino children working in small-scale mining sites in the Bicol region.
Presently, Saludes is doing a documentary project about indigenous people’s displacement, faith and religiosity, and effects of mercury in mining communities.
